A variety of events occurred in the past couple of months that made us decide it was time to leave Davis and move to Georgia. John and I knew that we would always end up in Georgia, but we were not quite sure when it was going to happen. We are both hoping to wrap up our Ph.D. degrees soon, so that fact coupled with not getting paid enough at my job to put two kids through daycare full-time, made the choice to come home to family a lot easier. There are a lot of things about Davis that we will miss, namely the weather and all the different restaurants. We also made a lot of great friends along the way...now if we can only convince them that Georgia is where they should be ;)
One of the many things I'll miss when we move to Georgia will be my Wednesday playdates with Molly and Sarah and their babies. In honor of the last Wednesday, we had a quick portrait session with the babies in their bumbo seats. The pictures came out great thanks to Molly who really should have a second career as a photographer. Here are some of the shots:
The twins L to R: Emma, Aubrey, Jude, June, Isaac and Dominique (Click on the pic to get a better view).
My favorite shot with an artsy twist... should be a bumbo product advertisement, right?
A behind the scenes look at the madness... Sarah and I were jumping around trying to get their attention.
Miss June and one of her many faces :)
On one of the last weekends we were in Davis, Jasmine and Paula (friends from my graduate group) threw us a farewell party. It was great to see a lot of people from my graduate group since the last time I saw them was probably at my baby shower. It was good that they all got to see June and Jude too before we left. John and I soaked up the food, cake and all the hands-free time we had since people were holding the babies.

We started packing relatively early, but no matter how early you start it's still a mad dash at the end. We decided to sell most of our stuff on craigslist and then have a yard sale to get rid of the rest. We ended up making a good chunk of change and it will probably go towards the massive moving costs for all the other odds-n-ends we decided to bring with us. Before we left, there were a lot of people we had to say goodbye to. We were able to have dinner with Bronwyn, Jarrod and Noah. We also hung out with Julie and Dave briefly after Julie passed her qualifying exam (yay!). And thankfully Tara stopped by one day to say goodbye. She is also leaving Davis to start her Ph.D. in Portland! John and I will both be back to California quite a few times before its all over with, so we were not really saying 'goodbye' to everyone.

There were approximately 3 weeks between my maternity leave ending and our move to Georgia where I had to go to work. There was no way we could afford (or even find) a good daycare for the babies during that short time. Luckily a fellow mother of multiple said her sister-n-law, who had twin babysitting experience, was available. She turned out to be the best babysitter ever! You could tell that the babies really enjoyed hanging out with her. I had to take a picture of them together since they will only ever have their very first babysitter once :) We wish she could move to Georgia too!
Jenna, June and Jude (no, a J-name was not a prerequisite for the job!)
So our life as the Schwind family in Davis is coming to a close :( John and I were first in California as an engaged couple and now we leave as proud parents of 2 fur babies and 2 human babies. WOW! Now we embark on a 2-week roadtrip from CA to GA with 2 adults, 2 babies and 2 dogs! More to come...
Oh, and a few random pictures I had on my camera:
